About This Dog for Adoption
Rubble's ideal home
Rubble is a 3-and-a-half-year-old French Bulldog who is looking for a quieter, more peaceful life. He would love a home where he can be the only dog and enjoy all the fuss for himself! He could live with older children aged 14+, but would be best in a home without younger ones—he is a bit of a food thief and will happily help himself to whatever snacks he can find.
Rubble is not keen on being picked up, so he needs an understanding home where that will not be part of his daily routine. A private garden is a must, especially in warmer weather when walkies might be too much for his brachy build. While he does not want to share his home with another dog, he can walk alongside calm canine pals who are happy to just potter along.
He has previously been left alone in a home setting and coped well, but this was with doggy companions around, so any time left alone will need to be built up slowly once he is settled. Rubble is not a fan of cats and will chase, so he needs a feline-free home.
Could you be Rubble's perfect match?
Rubble is a sweet and affectionate boy who loves food and enjoys gentle fuss—but on his own terms. He is housetrained, knows “sit,” and is friendly with visitors once he has had a moment to suss things out. He travels well in the car (though occasionally gets a bit sick),and would benefit from a ramp or step to avoid needing to be lifted in—being picked up makes him grumble.
New surroundings can make Rubble feel overwhelmed, especially without a trusted person nearby, so he is looking for a home where he can go at his own pace and feel safe. He is generally relaxed seeing other dogs out and about, but really just wants a calm and cosy home where he can be doted on.
He is not interested in toys, but does have a soft spot for tasty snacks—and once he has decided he likes a treat, he will be back politely asking for more! Rubble is a low-energy boy who would enjoy short potters in quiet areas, followed by lots of snoozing somewhere comfy.
If you have a calm home, a snug sofa, and a soft spot for cheeky, food-loving Bulldogs, Rubble might just be your perfect match.
This dog is currently being rehomed under our Home Stay scheme. Under this scheme, the dog stays with their current owner until the point of adoption, when the ownership transfers briefly to Dogs Trust and then to the new adopters. The benefits of Home Stay for a dog are that it minimises disruption and prevents the dog having to come into kennels, however there is the potential the owner may pull out of the scheme prior to adoption. We understand the upset this may cause to potential adopters, and we work closely with the owners to minimised the likelihood of this. However, it remains a possibility, and should this occur, Dogs Trust will prioritise finding adopters an alternative dog.
